An Interview with ESICA’s Newest Board Members, David O’Brien and Marc Napolitano

Where we live:
Marc: East Brunswick, NJ
David: Wilbraham, MA

What we do:
Marc: Vice President/General Manager of Insulation Materials Corp. David: Territory Manager at Homan’s Associates

Three things we would like everyone to know about us:
Marc: I am a great cook (just ask me!); I try to treat everyone as I would like to be treated; and I am most happy when surrounded by people I love. David: I love cooking and entertaining; I was a soccer goalie for the Providence College Friars; and I am an avid golfer.

What we like most about our work:
Marc: I enjoy working side by side with our customers, reviewing specifications or creating new ones. Working out creative logistical plans for large capital projects is another favorite challenge. Also, I absolutely love tinkering in the fabrication shop with my fabrication team, coming up with new innovations. Basically, I love the action!
David: I cherish the opportunity to build relationships with both coworkers and customers.

Our most difficult challenge:
Marc: I think, like most managers, it’s hiring, training and retaining employees.
David: Coming back from a torn quad muscle two years ago.

Our greatest inspiration:
Marc: I have many, but right now it is my wife, Christine, the President of IMC. She has been an incredible leader through this challenging and unprecedented time.
David: My Dad, Francis O'Brien.

Our happiest moments:
Marc: When I am in my kitchen cooking for my family and enjoying the outdoors with my boys, fishing, hiking and talking.
David: Getting married and having kids.

What we are most proud of:
Marc: Today it would be how well my family is coping with this pandemic. My children have adjusted well to remote learning and are excelling in school. My wife and I have been able to lead our team at IMC out of 2020 and into 2021 as a stronger company than we have ever been. I am very proud of my family. David: Being an older Dad. It is hard but so much fun at the same time.

Most exciting part of being a new ESICA Board Member:
Marc: This industry has given me everything I have today. Being a member of the ESICA Board allows me to give back to the industry that I am so proud to be a part of.
David: Meeting my fellow ESICA members and learning from different people in the industry.

Bucket list for the near and distant future:
Marc: Backpacking in Yellowstone; salmon fishing in Alaska; and owning a farm in Pennsylvania.
David: The joy of watching my children grow up.
